Gluttony/Excess
Every society is different, but if we are not careful, we can all fall into the trap of always needing more to be satisfied…
Do you trust God today?
The Word of God can be a mirror where we can see ourselves in the stories of others before us.
Manna appeared as a provision for the Israelites during a time when they could not farm because they had not yet come to the land that was to be theirs.
Exodus 16:35
"The people of Israel ate the manna forty years, till they came to a habitable land. They ate the manna till they came to the border of the land of Canaan."
What is Manna?
Manna, often described as “bread from heaven” or “angelic bread”, is a miraculous
food that God provided for the Israelites during their journey in the wilderness after
escaping Egypt.
Significance of Manna
The provision of manna from heaven was not just about physical sustenance. It was also a form of spiritual food, a daily reminder of God's constant presence and care.
Manna as a Test of Obedience
The Israelites were commanded not to keep any of the manna until morning, except on the sixth day of the week. On the sixth day, they were to gather twice as much in
preparation for the Sabbath when no manna would appear.
Manna in the New Testament
The theme of manna as spiritual food continues in the New Testament. In the Gospel of John, Jesus refers to himself as the "bread of life" and the true manna from heaven.
John 6:51
“I am the living bread that came down from heaven. Whoever eats this bread will live forever. This bread is my flesh, which I will give for the life of the world.”
Scarcity Mindset: Do we trust God to provide or do we have a scarcity mindset?
“If I don’t get it now, I might not get it later…”
Limits/Comfort & Pleasure: Do I search for comfort instead of facing certain issues?
“Do not join those who drink too much wine or gorge themselves on meat, for drunkards and gluttons become poor, and drowsiness clothes them in rags.” (Proverbs 23:20-21)
Over-Consumption: Are there certain things that are competing with our trust in God?
Gluttony & Excess
Scarcity Mindset
Over-Indulgence
Over-Consumption
Consumerism
Take only what you need.

With your future?
In this season?
Today?
With your daily bread?
