Attaining Wisdom

Two types of wisdom:
— Worldly wisdom: *information based on feelings and current events, main objective is to please oneself.*
+ Godly wisdom: counsel and guidance rooted in Scripture, primary focus is to honor God.
Benefits of Godly Wisdom:
~Decision-making
~Overcoming strongholds
~Managing resources
~Facing fears
1. Godly wisdom is
James 3:13 / ESV, “Who is wise and understanding among you? By his good conduct let him show his works in the meekness of wisdom.”
Numbers 12:3 / NIV, “Now the man Moses was very meek, more than all people who were on the face of the earth.”
Isaiah 29:19 / ESV, “The meek shall obtain fresh joy in the Lord.”
Matthew 5:5 / ESV, “Blessed are the meek, for they shall inherit the earth.”
+ Strive to live under God’s control
2. Godly wisdom has
James 3:14-17 / ESV, “But if you have bitter jealousy and selfish ambition in your hearts, do not boast and be false to the truth. 15 This is not the wisdom that comes down from above, but is earthly, unspiritual, demonic. 16 For where jealousy and selfish ambition exist, there will be disorder and every vile practice. 17 But the wisdom from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, open to reason, full of mercy and good fruits, impartial and sincere.”
Value/ Beatitude:
Humility, Matthew 5:3
Purity, Matthew 5:8
Peacemaking, Matthew 5:9
Gentle, Mathew 5:5, 10-12
Reasonableness, Matthew 5:4
Mercy, Matthew 5:7
Spiritual Wellness, Matthew 5:6
+ Seek to be a person who lives by God approved values.
3.Godly wisdom produces a
James 3:18 / ESV, “And a harvest of righteousness is sown in peace by those who make peace.”
Isaiah 32:17 / ESV, “The result of righteousness will be peace; the effect of righteousness will be quiet confidence forever.”
+ Sow wisdom, reap and resow blessing.
