READ AGAIN: Luke 9:1-17

  1. Why did Jesus give the 12 power and authority here? (v.1)
  2. What did He send them out to do? (v.2)
  3. Jesus still calls us to carry out the same mission in the same way, using both word and deed. He gave the 12 power and authority that day, what does He give us today to help us?
  4. Why do you think its so important that we use the words of our mouths and the work of our hands as we engage our world today?
  5. Why do you think Jesus instructed the 12 to pack light? (v.3)
  6. How have you responded when people reject you as you share Christ with them? (v.5)
  7. Who were the people saying that Jesus was? How was it that they were coming to these opinions? (vs.7-8)
  8. Do you think Herod only wanted to see Jesus because he had bad intentions?
  9. What do you do to “get away” or maybe to spend some time alone with Jesus?
  10. Do you often offer God suggestions about how to resolve issues in your life or the lives of others? (v.12)
  11. What has Jesus asked of you that you felt completely unable to do? (v.13)
  12. What connections do you see between Moses & the Israelites in the wilderness (Ex. 16) and Jesus and the crowd here in the wilderness?
  13. Why do you think that people are so prone to try and “explain away” the miraculous in this account?

    If you are seeking, Jesus will welcome you.
    If you are hungry, Jesus will feed you.
    If you are obedient, Jesus will use you.
