From Fear to Blessing
March 17, 2024

When your life is flooded with fear, you have a choice:

You can let it OVERWHELM your life, or you can TAKE IT to God.

2 Chronicles 20:12b - “We do not know what to do, but we are looking to you for help.”
(NLT)

2 Chronicles 20:15-17 - He said, “Listen, all you people of Judah and Jerusalem! Listen,King Jehoshaphat! This is what the Lord says: Do not be afraid! Don’t be discouraged by this mighty army, for the battle is not yours, but God’s. 16 Tomorrow, march out against them….17 But you will not even need to fight. Take your positions; then stand still and watch the Lord’s victory. He is with you, O people of Judah and Jerusalem. Do not be afraid or discouraged. Go out against them tomorrow, for the Lord is with you!” (NLT)

WHAT DO YOU DO WHEN YOU’RE SURROUNDED BY THE STORM?

2 Chronicles 20:17b - “Do not be afraid or discouraged. Go out against them tomorrow, for the Lord is with you!” (NLT)

1. REMEMBER GOD IS WITH YOU.

Because He lives, I can face tomorrow,
Because He lives, all fear is gone;
Because I know He holds the future,
And life is worth the living,
Just because He lives.

2. REMEMBER GOD IS FOR YOU.

Romans 8:31b - …If God is for us, who can be against us? (NIV)

When I remember that God is for me, then I start looking at my greatest PROBLEM as my greatest POSSIBILITY for God to work in my life.

3. GIVE THE BATTLE TO GOD.

2 Chronicles 20:15b - …Do not be afraid! Don’t be discouraged by this mighty army, for the battle is not yours, but God’s… (NLT)

One of the main reasons that we sink into fear and hopelessness in the storm is because we’re trying to fight a battle God never intended for us to fight.

God is BIGGER THAN your battle.

4. POSITION YOURSELF FOR A MIRACLE.

2 Chronicles 20:17a - But you will not even need to fight. Take your positions; then stand still and watch the Lord’s victory. (NLT)

You can’t EARN a miracle, but you can position yourself to RECEIVE a miracle from
God.

HOW DO YOU POSITION YOURSELF TO RECEIVE A MIRACLE FROM GOD?

a. PRAY.

2 Chronicles 20:3 - Jehoshaphat was terrified by this news and begged the Lord for guidance. He also ordered everyone in Judah to begin fasting. (NLT)

Disturb us, Lord, when we are too pleased with ourselves, when our dreams have come true because we dreamed too little, when we arrived safely because we sailed too close to shore. Disturb us, Lord, to dare more boldly, to venture on wilder seas where storms will show Your mastery; where losing sight of land, we shall find the stars. This we ask in the name of our Captain, who is Jesus Christ.
— Sir Francis Drake

b. Thank God IN ADVANCE.

2 Chronicles 20:20-21a - Early the next morning the army of Judah went out into the wilderness of Tekoa. On the way Jehoshaphat stopped and said, “Listen to me, all you people of Judah and Jerusalem! Believe in the Lord your God, and you will be able to stand firm. Believe in his prophets, and you will succeed.” 21 After consulting the people, the king appointed singers to walk ahead of the army, singing to the Lord and praising him for his holy splendor. (NLT)

2 Chronicles 20:21b-22 - This is what they sang: “Give thanks to the Lord; his faithful love endures forever!” 22 At the very moment they began to sing and give praise, the Lord caused the armies of Ammon, Moab, and Mount Seir to start fighting among
themselves. (NLT)

Hebrews 11:6 - And without faith, it’s impossible to please God. (NIV)

2 Chronicles 20:26 - On the fourth day they gathered in the Valley of Blessing, which got its name that day because the people praised and thanked the Lord there. It is still
called the Valley of Blessing today. (NLT)

Your greatest PROBLEM is your greatest POSSIBILITY for God to work a miracle.
