His Prayer (Part 2) – John 17:6-10

⁶I have manifested Your name to the men whom You have given Me out of the world. They were Yours, You gave them to Me, and they have kept Your word. ⁷Now they have known that all things which You have given Me are from You. ⁸For I have given to them the words which You have given Me; and they have received them, and have known surely that I came forth from You; and they have believed that You sent Me. ⁹I pray for them. I do not pray for the world but for those whom You have given Me, for they are Yours. ¹⁰And all Mine are Yours, and Yours are Mine, and I am glorified in them. —John 17:6-10

If you had to leave your home or somewhere that you spent a considerable amount of time at, who would you say good-bye to? Who would you miss?

I have manifested Your name to the men… —Jesus
For I have given to them the words which You have given Me… —Jesus

The relationship was rooted in

For I have given to them the words which You have given Me; and they have received them, and have known surely that I came forth from You; and they have believed that You sent Me. —Jesus

The relationship was rooted in

…and they have kept Your word… —Jesus
…I am glorified in them. —Jesus

What about us?

³⁵And Jesus said to them, “I am the bread of life. He who comes to Me shall never hunger, and he who believes in Me shall never thirst. ³⁶But I said to you that you have seen Me and yet do not believe. ³⁷All that the Father gives Me will come to Me, and the one who comes to Me I will by no means cast out.

³⁸For I have come down from heaven, not to do My own will, but the will of Him who sent Me. Rooted in God
³⁹This is the will of the Father who sent Me, that of all He has given Me I should lose nothing, but should raise it up at the last day. Rooted in pointing us to God
⁴⁰And this is the will of Him who sent Me, that everyone who sees the Son and believes in Him may have everlasting life; and I will raise him up at the last day.” Rooted in results
