BACKGROUND TO THE PARABLE:
Most well known Luken story in scripture.
This is a contrast on “religion” vs RELATIONSHIP.
As followers of Christ; do we love our ‘neighbors’ like we love Christ?
“a man” – likely to be a Jew; but we are not told. It is assumed.
BE
A. Cultural Ignorance: “Samaritan’s were half breeds”
Prejudices can erode the great commission.
Religion can blind Biblical responsibility.
B. Charitable Investment: “had compassion”
How does compassion overcome my prejudices?
C. Consider the Cost: “bound up his wounds”
What are you willing to invest?
What cost will compassion require of me?
How much is too much?
