4 areas of closeness God wants your marriage to grow in:

1. Spiritual Closeness

Proverbs 27:17
As iron sharpens iron, so one person sharpens another. NIV

Matthew 4:4
Jesus answered, “It is written: ‘Man shall not live on bread alone, but on every word that comes from the mouth of God.’[a]” NIV

2. Conversational Closeness

1 Peter 3:8
Finally, all of you, be like-minded, be sympathetic, love one another, be compassionate and humble. NIV

3. Physical Closeness

God created physical intimacy.
And the culture around us has tried to hijack it ever since.

Enjoy life with your wife, whom you love, all the days of this meaningless life that God has given you under the sun—all your meaningless days. NIV

The best way to get the area of closeness we desire is to prioritize meeting the area of closeness our partner desires.

If you only focus on what YOU need for closeness…your marriage will look like:

• Brokenness
• Isolation
• Unresolved Arguments
• Sharp and Cutting Words
• Sadness
• Unmet Expectations

If you focus on what THEY need for closeness…It will look like:

• Wholeness
• Togetherness
• Resolved Tensions
• Encouraging and Uplifting Words
• Happiness
• Met Expectations
