Jeremiah 33:3 “Call to Me, and I will answer you, and show you great and mighty things, which you do not know.’”
Essentials are things that are absolutely necessary.
The Essential Of Prayer
Prayer is a two-way conversation where individuals speak to God but also listen for His guidance and response.
a) God Wants To Hear From You
Jeremiah 33:3 “Call to Me….”
Matthew 6:5-8 “When you pray, do not be like the hypocrites! They love to stand up and pray in the houses of worship and on the street corners, so that everyone will see them. I assure you, they have already been paid in full. When you pray, go to your room, close the door, and pray to your Father, who is unseen. And your Father, who sees what you do in private, will reward you. When you pray, do not use a lot of meaningless words, as the pagans do, who think that their gods will hear them because their prayers are long. Do not be like them. Your Father already knows what you need before you ask Him.”
1 John 5:14 “We are certain that God will hear our prayers when we ask for what pleases Him.”
b) God Wants To Talk To You
Jeremiah 33:3 “…I will answer you…”
2 Timothy 3:16 “All Scripture is inspired by God and is useful to teach us what is true and to make us realize what is wrong in our lives. It corrects us when we are wrong and teaches us to do what is right.”
c) God Wants To Answer Your Prayers
Jeremiah 33:3 “…I will answerer you, and show you great and mighty things, which you do not know.’”
1 John 5:15 “If we know that God listens when we pray, we are sure that our prayers have already been answered.”
i. Lord, Save Me
Romans 10:13 “Whoever calls on the Name of the Lord will be saved.”
ii. Lord, Forgive Me
1 John 1:9 “If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.”
iii. Lord, Rescue Me
Psalm 107:6,13,19,28 “They cried out to the Lord in their trouble and He rescued them!”
iv. Lord, Heal Me
Psalm 30:2 “I cried out to You and You healed me.”
v. Lord, Lead Me
Proverbs 3:5-6 “Trust in the Lord with all your heart, do not lean on your own understanding, in all your ways acknowledge Him and He will direct your paths.”
The big idea: The essentials are essential.
