INTRO
In the last few weeks we have learned about what church means; Are you called?
And are you chosen? We learned that we need to pray, when?
At all times and in everything.

Today as we celebrate back to Church Sunday, we will learn a new term called Koinonia, and the role that it plays for your life and for our church.

TEXT

Don’t just pretend to love others. Really love them. Hate what is wrong.
Hold tightly to what is good. Love each other with genuine affection,
and take delight in honoring each other.
—Romans 12:9-10 NLT

Let the message of Christ dwell among you richly as you teach and
admonish one another with all wisdom through psalms, hymns, and songs
from the Spirit, singing to God with gratitude in your hearts.
—Colossians 3:16 NIV

KOINONIA-
1) the Christian fellowship or body of believers

2) intimate spiritual communion and participative sharing in a common
religious commitment and spiritual community

”KOINONIA “.. I pray that you all take care of the needs of each other
and really have each other’s back!
Sometimes it means to confront or comfort or maybe counsel one another.
But if you guys are honest with each other knowing that love should never be an issue, then maybe an environment of “koinonia” will develop amongst y’all!!
That’s the only way the church will survive for your kids
and the next generation.
You guys will really have to dig deep and fight like HELL for it!!
It’s really worth the sacrifice , for the rewards are truly great!!!
Trust me on this one!!
Pray without ceasing for one another, starting now!

We are partners, not members of the church

Actively help in our church and our gatherings

Contribute generously and joyfully

Koinonia is done first privately. Your private circles (refer to the circles worksheet)

It’s loving and serving people not like you or you don’t get along with
• Anyone can love and be friends with people you like.

KOINONIA IN ALL CIRCLES OF MY LIFE
1) Do you have koinonia with yourself?

2) Do I have koinonia with my spouse?

3) Do I have koinonia with my kids?

4) Do I have koinonia with my colleagues?

5) Do I have koinonia with my friends?

6) Do I have koinonia with the people in this church?

7) Do I have koinonia with my Small Group?

DISCUSSION
1) What does koinonia mean to you personally?

2) How do you experience fellowship in your closest relationships (family, friends, or church)?

3) How can you extend koinonia beyond your immediate circle to other areas of your life (workplace, neighborhood, etc.)? What are some challenges you face in trying to build fellowship in these spaces?
