“And also for me, that words may be given to me in opening my mouth boldly to proclaim the mystery of the gospel, for which I am an ambassador in chains. Pray that I may declare it boldly, as I ought to speak.” Ephesians 6:19-20
“He had four unmarried daughters who prophesied.” Acts 21:9
1.Look for a chance to be a
Now an angel of the Lord said to Philip, “Go south to the road—the desert road—that goes down from Jerusalem to Gaza.” So he started out, and on his way he met an Ethiopian eunuch, an important official in charge of all the treasury of the Kandake (which means “queen of the Ethiopians”). This man had gone to Jerusalem to worship, and on his way home was sitting in his chariot reading the Book of Isaiah the prophet. The Spirit told Philip, “Go to that chariot and stay near it.” Then Philip ran up to the chariot and heard the man reading Isaiah the prophet. “Do you understand what you are reading?” Philip asked. Acts 8:26-32
2.Listen more than you
Then Philip ran up to the chariot and heard the man reading Isaiah the prophet. “Do you understand what you are reading?” Philip asked. “How can I,” he said, “unless someone explains it to me?” So he invited Philip to come up and sit with him. This is the passage of Scripture the eunuch was reading: “He was led like a sheep to the slaughter, and as a lamb before its shearer is silent, so he did not open his mouth. In his humiliation he was deprived of justice. Who can speak of his descendants? For his life was taken from the earth.” The eunuch asked Philip, “Tell me, please, who is the prophet talking about, himself or someone else?” Then Philip began with that very passage of Scripture and told him the good news about Jesus. Acts 8:30-35
Bold Witnessing Principles from Philip
- Go when God says to go
- Break through the barriers.
- Believe that God is preparing hearts.
- Use the Bible. (Romans 6:23)
- Make Jesus the center of your witness.
- Aim at a response. Draw the Net.
3.Leave the Results up to
As they traveled along the road, they came to some water and the eunuch said, “Look, here is water. What can stand in the way of my being baptized?” And he gave orders to stop the chariot. Then both Philip and the eunuch went down into the water and Philip baptized him. When they came up out of the water, the Spirit of the Lord suddenly took Philip away, and the eunuch did not see him again, but went on his way rejoicing. Philip, however, appeared at Azotus and traveled about, preaching the gospel in all the towns until he reached Caesarea. Acts 36-40

CONNECTION GROUP DISCUSSION:
Opening Question:
Share a time when you felt nervous or hesitant to talk about your faith. What held you back?
Key Takeaways:
1.Bold witnesses take every opportunity to point people to Jesus.
2.God is already preparing hearts - we need to be ready to respond.
3.Effective witnessing involves listening more than talking.
4.Our primary message should always center on Jesus.
5.We are called to share, but the results are up to God.
Discussion Questions:
1.The sermon mentions that many non-believers are open to spiritual conversations. Why do you think Christians often hesitate to initiate these talks?
2.Philip responded immediately when God told him to go. How can we become more tuned in to God’s promptings in our daily lives?
3.What are some practical ways we can become better listeners when engaging with others about faith?
4.There are several “Bold Witnessing Principles.” Which one resonates with you the most and why?
5.How does knowing that God is already working in people’s hearts change the way we approach evangelism?
6.Discuss the statement: “You don’t have to know all the answers. You just have to know THE ANSWER who is Jesus.” How does this impact your confidence in sharing your faith?
7.The Ethiopian’s conversion led to widespread impact. How might sharing your faith create a ripple effect beyond what you can see?
Practical Applications:
1.This week, pray daily for God to direct your steps to someone who needs to hear about Jesus.
2.Practice asking open-ended questions to improve your listening skills in conversations.
3.Memorize the power verse: Romans 1:16. Consider what it means to not be ashamed of the Gospel.
4.Share your testimony with the group. Then, practice a 3-minute version you could share with others.
5.Invite someone to church or a church event this week.
6.If you haven’t been baptized, consider taking that step of obedience and going public with your faith in Jesus.
Closing Prayer:
Ask God for boldness to share your faith without fear, for opportunities to witness, and for the Holy Spirit’s guidance in your conversations this week.
