Pastor Mike Tabor

Competing will requires 3 things:

  1. A Coach/Teacher/Mentor
  2. Self Control
  3. Find Rest when Required

A Coach/Teacher/Mentor – The Lord is my Shepherd

2 fixing our eyes on Jesus, the pioneer (author) and perfecter of faith. For the joy set before him he endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.
Hebrews 12:2 NIV

Therefore he is able to save completely those who come to God throug him, because he always lives to intercede for them
Hebrews 7:25 NIV

The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want
Psalms 23:1 KJV

The Lord is my shepherd, I lack nothing
Psalms 23:1 NIV

Christian maturity is not knowledge, its humility and grace towards others

HOMEWORK:

  1. Will you pray and have an honest conversation with God about your present circumstance and ask for wisdom. Can you invite a trusted friend to join you?
  2. Can you take a moment each day this week and invite God to inspire you from His Word?
  3. Pray about one person tha you can encourage this week.

Self Control – He Leads Me (Submitting to Godly Guidance)

But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, 23 gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law. 24 Those who belong to Christ Jesus have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires. 25 Since we live by the Spirit, let us keep in step with the Spirit. 26 Let us not become conceited, provoking and envying each other.
Galatians 5: 22 NIV

Self-Control (Believer) = God Focused God Driven

He makes me lie down in green pastures, he leads me beside quiet waters, 3. He refreshes my soul. He guides me along the right paths for his name’s sake.
Psalms 23:2 NIV

Question: Has there been times in your life when you were more teachable?

HOMEWORK:

This week where do I need to exchange my driven – to God Driven

Find Rest When Required – He makes me lie down

He makes me lie down in green pastures, he leads me beside quiet waters, 3 He refreshes my soul.
Psalms 23:1 NIV

And let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not.
Galatians 6:9 KJV

From the ends of the earth I call to you, I call as my heart grows faint; lead me to the rock that is higher than I. 3 For you have been my refuge, a strong tower against the foe 4 I long to dwell in your tent forever and take refuge in the shelter of your wings.
Psalms 61:2 NIV
