Mark 6:1-6 NASB
Jesus went out from there and *came into His hometown; and His disciples *followed Him.
And when the Sabbath came, He began to teach in the synagogue; and the many listeners were astonished, saying, “Where did this Man learn these things, and what is this wisdom that has been given to Him, and such miracles as these performed by His hands?
Is this not the carpenter, the son of Mary and brother of James, Joses, Judas, and Simon? And are His sisters not here with us?” And they took offense at Him.
Jesus said to them, “A prophet is not dishonored except in his hometown and among his own relatives, and in his own household.”
And He could not do any miracle there except that He laid His hands on a few sick people and healed them.
And He was amazed at their unbelief. And He was going around the villages, teaching.
We are led by what we see instead of what we believe
Miracles are defined as an extraordinary work of God, generally though transcending the ordinary powers of Nature; an extraordinary event manifesting divine intervention in human affairs; an event that is contrary to the established laws of nature and attributed to a supernatural cause.
Empowerment Keys:
- When you depend on what you see and what you know it hinders you from seeing what you desire
Familiarity breeds contentment
extensive knowledge or close association with someone or something leads to a loss of respect
He will come in your space, but you must release him for miracles to be performed (faith is the key)
Your unbelief debilitates Jesus and builds a wall between you and your miracle
- Unbelief and faith are opposites. “If faith is the capacity to receive what God wants to give, unbelief is the willful refusal to receive what God wants to give.” They erected a barrier of unbelief…
- Faith is the difference between what he wants do and we can do
