In the Middle of It Pt. 2 | In the Middle of the Storm

November 17, 2024

  • Jesus is right in the thick of it with us - the battle, the mess, and life’s circumstances. It’s right where He to be!

For where two or three are gathered together in My name, I am there in the midst of them. —Matthew 18:20

That’s where they crucified him—and two others with him, one on each side and Jesus in the middle. —John 19:18 (CEB)

45 Immediately He made His disciples get into the boat and go before Him to the other side, to Bethsaida, while He sent the multitude away. 46 And when He had sent them away, He departed to the mountain to pray.
47 Now when evening came, the boat was in the middle of the sea; and He was alone on the land. 48 Then He saw them straining at rowing, for the wind was against them. Now about the fourth watch of the night He came to them, walking on the sea, and would have passed them by. 49 And when they saw Him walking on the sea, they supposed it was a ghost, and cried out; 50 for they all saw Him and were troubled. But immediately He talked with them and said to them, “Be of good cheer! It is I; do not be afraid.” 51 Then He went up into the boat to them, and the wind ceased. And they were greatly amazed in themselves beyond measure, and marveled. 52 For they had not understood about the loaves, because their heart was hardened. —Mark 6:45-52

1. Jesus us to be in, or sends us into situations in which he will reveal Himself in a new way.

Therefore He is also able to save [a]to the uttermost those who come to God through Him, since He always lives to make intercession for them. —Hebrews 7:25

  • Instead of asking, “Father, why is this happening?” we need to learn to ask “Lord, what are you doing?” and “ are you in this in this storm?”

2. Jesus is to meet us in the middle of life’s greatest storms.

They all saw Him, and were troubled! —Mark 6:49

  • Troubled - to cause one inward commotion, take away his calmness of mind, disturb his equanimity (mental calmness in a difficult situation)

3. When Jesus speaks, it the storm on the inside.

  • Our greatest need in the midst of the storm isn’t for the storm to stop, but it’s to

    from Him.

  • As we grow, the external storms don’t create the same internal storms. We learn to remain

    to Jesus.

4. After Jesus stopped the internal storm, he got into the of the boat.

3 things happened:
a. the wind ceased. (external storm stopped).
b. they were greatly amazed in themselves

measure, and marveled.
c. John 16:20 - and immediately the boat was at the land where they were going.

of this very thing, that He who has begun a good work in you will complete it until the day of Jesus Christ. —Phil 1:6
