The Pursuit - Betrayed
Relationships Make Life Rich.
Relationships Are a Risk.
Psalm 52:1-4
You call yourself a hero, do you? Why boast about this crime of yours, you who have God’s people? All day long you plot destruction. Your tongue cuts like a sharp razor, you are an expert at telling lies. You love evil more than good and lies more than truth. You love to say things that harm others, you liar.
1. Betrayal Hurts.
2. Trust God’s Justice
Psalm 52:5-7
But God will strike you down once and for all. (Not I am going to get you) He will pull you out of your home and drag your away from the land of the living. The righteous will see it and be amazed. They will laugh and say, look what has happened to mighty warriors who do not trust in God. They trust in their wealth instead and grow more and more bold in their wickedness.
3. Find Strength in God.
Psalm 52:8-9
But, I am an olive tree, thriving in the house of God. I trust in God’s unfailing love for ever and ever. I will praise you forever and ever, O God, for what you have done. I will wait on your mercies in the presence of your people, I will put my hope in Your name, for it is good.
4. A Godly Perspective on Betrayal.
Romans 12:17-21
Never pay back evil with more evil. Do things in such a way that everyone can see you are honorable. Do all you can to live in peace with everyone. Dear friends, never take revenge. Leave that to the righteous anger of God. For scripture says, “I will take revenge, I will pay them back,” says the Lord.
*So wait God, I just sit back and do nothing? *
Instead “if your enemies are hungry, feed them. If they they are thirsty give them something to drink. In doing this you will heap burning coals of shame on their heads.” Don’t let evil conquer you, but conquer evil by doing good.
Joshua 1:9 “Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous! Do not tremble or be dismayed, for the LORD your God is with you wherever you go.” (NAS)
Jeremiah 29:11 For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the LORD, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. (NIV)
Psalm 27:1 The LORD is my light and my salvation; Whom shall I fear? The LORD is the strength of my life; Of whom shall I be afraid? (NKJ)
