Part of Thanksgiving, the believer's posture
November 20, 2019

Resolve the believer to acknowledge and thank God for all HIS bountiful blessing and favor; revealing the amazing blessing that a life steeped in thanksgiving experiences, as heartfelt thanks toward God constructs an atmosphere of intimate exchange with heaven

Enter into His gates with thanksgiving,
And into His courts with praise.
Be thankful to Him, and bless His name.
—Psalm 100:4 (KJV)

Giving thanks is both expressing gratitude, and appreciating and acknowledging an action that brought joy, peace, provision or benefit into one’s life

What can cause us to forget

  • – something that takes your attention away from what you’re supposed to be doing. (or something vying for importance or priority when it shouldn’t be or isn’t)
  • - previously applied to another group and unavailable for use in a new sense
  • - without definite or serious intention; careless (Casual approach towards his assignment)
    • Casualty – A person or thing badly affected by an event or situation [the object of casual, careless behavior]

When we’re casual and careless there is the potential for casualties (could be us or could be others)

When have I forgotten something important?

When have I forgotten to honor God?

Was I distracted, preoccupied, casual or a combination of the three?

    Thanksgiving is the believer’s posture

Giving thanks to God is a prescribed method of

Enter into His gates with thanksgiving,
And into His courts with praise.
Be thankful to Him, and bless His name. —Psalm 100:4 (KJV)

David gives us the password to get through the gates

“With thanksgiving” [You shall] “enter His gates”

When we “enter His courts” there should be “praise” on our lips

  • in appreciation of God caring for us
  • in celebration of being in His presence

When have I been faced with trouble, tears, disappointment or heart ache and had to put on thanks giving, worship and praise?

How hard was it to give thanks in that moment or season in life?

What did I do to get myself going?

What was the result of me giving thanks and worshipping to God?

    Being in God’s Presence

  • We need to get into God’s presence to be to handle the troubles, the tears…the disappointment
  • We need to get into God’s presence for to get us going again, and for us to be , , and
  • The result of thanksgiving is we get back to honoring God with our lives by from God’s priorities, for ourselves and others, and ; not being careless about our assignment from God!
