Isaiah 64:8; Jeremiah 1:5; Jeremiah 18:1-6
Pastor Tom Crow
Isaiah 64:8 – Yet you, LORD, are our Father. We are the clay, you are the potter; we
are all the work of your hand.
Jeremiah 18:1-6 - This is the word that came to Jeremiah from the LORD: “Go down to
the potter’s house, and there I will give you my message.” So I went down to the
potter’s house, and I saw him working at the wheel. But the pot he was shaping from
the clay was marred in his hands; so the potter formed it into another pot, shaping it as
seemed best to him.
Then the word of the LORD came to me. He said, “Can I not do with you, Israel, as this
potter does?” declares the LORD. “Like clay in the hand of the potter, so are you in my
hand, Israel.
Key Truth #1 – God is the Potter; He desires to shape us to hold the Treasure.
Lamentations 3:23 - They are new every morning; great is your faithfulness.
Key Truth #2 – We are like the clay, able to be shaped into a beautiful vessel by the
Potter.
Jeremiah 1:5 - “Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, before you were born I set
you apart; I appointed you as a prophet to the nations.”
Jeremiah 33:3 - Call to me and I will answer you and tell you great and
unsearchable things you do not know.
Key Truth #4 – The fire strengthens the pottery for service and glory.
2 Peter 3:9 - The Lord is not slow in keeping his promise, as some understand
slowness. Instead he is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to
come to repentance.
LORD, MAKE ME WILLING TO BE WILLING!
2 Corinthians 12:9 - But he said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is
made perfect in weakness.” Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my
weaknesses, so that Christ’s power may rest on me.
