Titus 1:5-9 - God’s plan for pastors

God has a

Arrogant: authodēs = self-willed, stubborn, refusing to listen
Quick-tempered: orgilos = given over to anger
Drunkard: paroines = addicted to wine, a heavy drinker
Violent: plēktēs = violent, a bully, or a striker
Greedy for gain: aischrokerdēs = fond of dishonest gain, shamefully greedy

hospitable: philoxenos = lover of strangers
lover of good: philagathos = one who loves virtue or goodness (as defined by God)
self-controlled: sōphrōn = sober-minded, sensible, prudent
upright: dikaios = righteous, just
holy: hosios = morally pure, set apart for God
disciplined: enkratēs = temperate, moderate

“(Disciplined) overlaps with self-controlled, but emphasizes more the control of the body and appetites, whereas ‘self-control’ has more to do with the thought life and subsequent behavior.” - Philip Towner

Him we proclaim, warning everyone and teaching everyone with all wisdom, that we may present everyone mature in Christ.
