“Know It All (Omniscience)”

Psalm 139:1-6 NLT “O LORD, you have examined my heart and know everything about me. You know when I sit down or stand up. You know my thoughts even when I’m far away. You see me when I travel and when I rest at home. You know everything I do. You know what I am going to say even before I say it, LORD. You go before me and follow me. You place your hand of blessing on my head. Such knowledge is too wonderful for me, too great for me to understand!

         1. He Examines Our Hearts and Knows Everything About Us

Psalm 139:1 NLT “O LORD, you have examined my heart and know everything about me.”

         2. What Does He Know Specifically?

                  a. He Knows Everything We

Psalm 139:2 NLT “You know when I sit down or stand up.”

                  b. He Knows What We Are

Psalm 139:2b NLT “You know my thoughts even when I’m far away.”

                        • (When I am far away = wandering thoughts)

Psalm 139:17-18a NLT “How precious are your thoughts about me, O God. They cannot be numbered! I can’t even count them; they outnumber the grains of sand!”

                  c. He Knows Everything That I

Psalm 139:4 NLT “You know what I am going to say even before I say it, LORD.”

Psalm 139:5 NLT “You go before me and follow me. You place your hand of blessing on my head.”

         3. What Should Be Our Take Away From God’s Omniscience?

                  a. When We Actually Grasp His Omniscience, It’s a Game Changer

                  b. His Knowledge Brings Understanding and Significance to My Life

Hebrews 4:15-16 NLT “This High Priest of ours understands our weaknesses, for he faced all of the same testings we do, yet he did not sin. So let us come boldly to the throne of our gracious God. There we will receive his mercy, and we will find grace to help us when we need it most.”

                  c. He Wants Us to Know Him As Much As He Knows Us

                        • God wants us to be loved and listened to and understood

Ephesians 3:18 NLT “And may you have the power to understand, as all God’s people should, how wide, how long, how high, and how deep his love is.”

                  d. We Must Learn to Tap Into His Knowledge As Much As Possible

James 1:5 NLT “If you need wisdom, ask our generous God, and he will give it to you. He will not rebuke you for asking.”

                  e. Since He Knows Everything Anyway, We Need to Make Ourselves Vulnerable

Psalm 139:23-24 NLT “search me of God, and know my heart; test me and know my anxious thoughts. Point out anything in me that offends you, and lead me along the path of everlasting life.”
