Title: A Realistic View of a Person
Text: Ecclesiastes 8:17-9:11
Date: October 15, 2023
Introduction: We all should admire, appreciate, and approve of a positive attitude or positive thinking. We have to like the sergeant whose squadron in battle was completely surrounded. So he called his men together and said, “Men we are completely surrounded. Let’s not let one of them escape.” A positive attitude will go a long way in life and it will help us in numerous ways.
However, somewhere along the way, we will come to the point of the Preacher, Solomon, who wrote Ecclesiastes. He discovered that there are some things against which we are powerless. There are some things where we have limitations. This is the subject we will be focusing on today as we consider chapters 8 and 9 of this exciting book.
There are two movements in this material. The recognition of both of them is necessary if we are to arrive at a realistic view of a person. What are the two truths?
I. A recognition of what a person
A. A person cannot
B. A person cannot
C. A person cannot
D. A person cannot
II. A recognition of what a person
A. A person can enjoy his/her
B. A person can enjoy each
C. A person can enjoy his/her
D. A person can enjoy his/her
E. A person can enjoy his/her
