Glorify Your Father: Giving

Matthew 6:1-4 ESV

Jesus’ Righteousness is the

of True Righteousness

  • Justification: Jesus’ perfect righteousness is to sinful people who have turned to Him for salvation.
  • Sanctification: Those who have been justified will reflect Jesus’ righteousness in everyday living with God’s help.

How should Christians rightly respond to the

?
1. Be a generous (action).
a. Hypocrites, theatrical , are self-reliant & often deceived.
b. Stewards are entrusted to God’s resources. 1 Peter 4:10
: He gives what is best.
— A generous God should have generous .
c. Yet, right actions don’t tell the whole story.


2. Let Christ live through you ( ).
a. Hypocrites have wrong motives:
— to be and by other people vv.1-2
— to fulfill religious obligations
— to feel good or earn with God
b. in Christ: Salt & Light Matthew 5:13-14
of wisdom: The mind of Christ Colossians 3:1-3
for living: Do all for God 1 Corinthians 10:31


3. (goal).
a. Action + Motive + Goal = Voddie Baucham
b. By faith, Christians get to Jesus to those in need.
c. Ministries & : Global Pantry, Easter, etc
