SMALL GROUP QUESTIONS

HEAD: These questions help us examine the Word.
1. Read 2 Timothy 2:1-7.
2. In verse 1, what does Paul mean when he tells Timothy to “be strong in the grace that is in Christ Jesus”?
3. What does 2 Timothy 2:2 teach us about spiritual generations and the importance of passing on the faith?
4. Why does Paul use the imagery of a soldier, athlete, and farmer in this passage? How does each one relate to disciplemaking?

HEART: These questions help us wrestle with what we believe.
5. Have you ever felt unqualified or hesitant to invest in others spiritually? How does God’s grace empower you to step into disciplemaking?
6. What emotions arise when you think about making disciples who make disciples? Excitement? Fear? Doubt? How can you bring those feelings before God?

HAND: These questions help us bring truth and beliefs into our everyday life.
7. Who is one person in your life right now that you can begin to invest in spiritually? What is one step you can take this week to encourage them in their faith?
8. What distractions or “civilian affairs” (v.4) might be entangling you and keeping you from fully engaging in the mission of disciplemaking?
9. If being “steeped in the Gospel” is essential for making disciples, what practical ways can you immerse yourself in God’s Word daily?
