WHAT IS THE MOST EXTRAORDINARY THING YOU HAVE SEEN IN 2023?

We often live our lives in a way that makes it hard to see the

things
around us.

What if we allowed ourselves to make room for the most

things?

MAKE ROOM FOR WONDER

Visio Divina= ‘Divine

Luke 2:15-20

15  When the angels had returned to heaven, the shepherds said to each other, “Let’s go to Bethlehem! Let’s

this thing that has happened, which the Lord has told us about.”
16  They hurried to the village and found Mary and Joseph. And there was the baby, lying in the manger.  17  After seeing him, the shepherds told what had happened and what the angel had said to them about this child.  18  All who heard the shepherds’ story were astonished,  19  but Mary kept all these things in her heart and thought about them often.  20  The shepherds went back to their flocks, glorifying and God for all they had heard and seen. It was just as the angel had told them.

Two Words in Greek for ‘SEE’:

Blepo (more common)
Horao (less common)

BLEPO: to see with

eyes; to see at face value
HORAO: to see with the mind and heart; to see with spiritual ; to see more deeply than what is just on the outside

Mark 4:12

“…they may be ever seeing (blepo) but never

(horao), and ever hearing but never understanding…”

The HORAO way of seeing leads us to

Shepherds: in that very moment, they were experiencing something extraordinary
The response of the shepherds is wonder.

“Wonder” led the shepherds to 2 outcomes:

1.) Tell Others
2.) Worship God

Luke 2:17—The shepherds told everyone what had happened…

When was the last time that you were so filled with wonder that you couldn’t keep it to yourself?

Luke 2:20 The shepherds went back to their flocks, glorifying and praising God…

When was the last time that you were so filled with wonder that it led you to worship God?

John 3:16

For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.
