Luke 17:20-37

17:20-21 | Luke’s grammar suggests the Pharisees were insistent on asking Jesus when God’s kingdom would come. Jesus had already said this kingdom had arrived in Himself (11:20), but here He simply told the Pharisees that the kingdom was working within people’s hearts and lives (Rom. 14:17).

17:22-24 | Christ’s return to inaugurate the full expression of His kingdom will be obvious. People alive at that time will not have to debate whether He has come (1 Tim. 6:15).

17:34-37 | At the coming of Christ, all of humanity will be divided in an instant. It will not make any difference what they are doing at the time.
