CP Group Discussion Questions
- On Sunday, Mike explored the Road to Emmaus account from the Gospel of Luke, but he didn’t read it in its entirety. Ask a volunteer to read the passage in its entirety (Luke 24:13-35) aloud to the group.
- Mike shared an analogy from the 1999 film, The Sixth Sense, where the ending of the film is so startling that it makes you go back and reinterpret everything you watched before. How is this similar to what happened to the two disciples on the Emmaus Road?
- “Were not our hearts burning within us while he talked with us on the road and opened the Scriptures to us?” Throughout history, this statement has been leveraged to promote an experience-based faith, where essentially something must be true if it “feels” true. However, this statement is not about trusting your gut, but trusting God’s Word. Why is this distinction important?
- Jesus made it abundantly clear that we could (and should) bank our lives on God’s Word. Why is it important that we clarify what is and what isn’t the inspired, infallible Word of God?
