Life Group Questions – July 10th & 11th 2021

This weekend Pastor Mark started us off in a series about exposing the enemy. We looked at exposing Satan’s attack on the mind. Pastor Mark used a resource called “The Strategies of Satan by Warren Wiersbe.

Pastor Mark opened with the idea that many of us might not know about Satan’s schemes or at least don’t give them enough credit.

1. Read 1 Peter 5:9 How often are you preparing yourself to fight in the spiritual battle we are called into? Is part of your reading and prayer time dedicated to resisting the devil?
   a. Do you know how the enemy has exploited you in the past, and do you seek God to help you guard yourself against those things in the future?
   b. How is God sovereign over Satan?

The first of Pastor Marks 4 points was Satan’s specific target. We need to know his target in order to resist and avoid his schemes.

1. Satan challenges God’s word and His goodness in the specific ways we are weakest. How important then is studying God’s word? Discuss your study habits (aside from this bible study you are in right now) and share to encourage each other in studying the word.
   a. Satan also deceived Eves physical senses and the false reality that Eve will “be like God, knowing good and evil”. How are we spiritually evaluating what we see around us in the physical world? What worldly pleasure might Satan be using to deceive you?

Pastor Marks next point was the specific weapons Satan uses to deceive us.

1. Has Satan coerced you to the sidelines of life by a lie? Are there any truths in the Bible you struggle with, that the enemy has encouraged you to reject? When we let this happen, are we rejecting God’s sovereignty? Do you really believe everything the Bible says?
   a. Pastor Mark talked about Satan lying to us about Gods will for us and taking us out. Have you sought the Lord on His specific will for your life and what His word says about you? What is that? If you have not, has Satan tricked you with a lie about Gods will for you?

In the next section Pastor Mark discusses Satan’s purpose for the evil that he does.

1. Satan has a very specific purpose in deceiving us and is completely sold out to it. Do you feel you are equally passionate and driven but for God’s purpose and works, and against Satan and his? Why not?
   a. Discuss reasons why we may not fight the spiritual battle as we should.

Pastor Marks last point is the most important, our defense.

1. Be honest with yourself, off the top of your head, what is our defense to Satan and the spiritual battle?
   b. Read Matthew 4:1-12, Hebrews 4:12, James 4:7, and 2 Corinthians 10:3-6. Now discuss some specific defensive tactics you will research and equip yourself with this week. Now that we are studying Satan’s tactics, he will be after us even more, stay diligent!
