Who is Jesus?

• He is the

—the promised deliverer of the Jewish nation and the world

• He is the

The Holy Spirit will come upon you, and the power of the Most High will overshadow you. So the baby to be born will be holy, and he will be called the Son of God. Luke 1:35 NLT

The Good News is about his Son. In his earthly life he was born into King David’s family line, and he was shown to be the Son of God when he was raised from the dead by the power of the Holy Spirit. Romans 1:3–4 NLT

So the Jewish leaders tried all the harder to find a way to kill him. For he not only broke the Sabbath, he called God his Father, thereby making himself equal with God. John 5:18 NLT

• He is the perfect

of God

The Son reflects the glory of God and shows exactly what God is like. He holds everything together with his powerful word. Hebrews 1:3 NCV

Christ is the visible image of the invisible God. He existed before anything was created and is supreme over all creation. Colossians 1:15 NLT

• He is the agent of

[Jesus] existed in the beginning with God. God created everything through him, and nothing was created except through him. John 1:2–3 NLT

• He is the head of the

Christ is also the head of the church, which is his body. Colossians 1:18 NLT

• He gets

So then, since we have a great High Priest who has entered heaven, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold firmly to what we believe. This High Priest of ours understands our weaknesses, for he faced all of the same testings we do, yet he did not sin. Hebrews 4:14–15 NLT

What did Jesus do?

The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he has chosen me to bring good news to the poor. He has sent me to proclaim liberty to the captives and recovery of sight to the blind, to set free the oppressed and announce that the time has come when the Lord will save his people. Luke 4:18–19 GNT

• He established a

for me to follow

I have given you an example to follow. Do as I have done to you. John 13:15 NLT

for sinners

But God showed his great love for us by sending Christ to die for us while we were still sinners. Romans 5:8 NLT

You were bought, not with something that ruins like gold or silver, but with the precious blood of Christ, who was like a pure and perfect lamb. 1 Peter 1:18–19 NCV

How do I respond to Jesus?
