Jesus was more interested in people than politics. One of the most pivotal, crucial statements Jesus ever made…

John 18:36 NIV
Jesus said, “My kingdom is not of this world…
If it were, my servants would fight to prevent my arrest by the Jewish leaders. But now my kingdom is from another place.” https://my.bible.com/bible/111/JHN.18.36.NIV

Matthew 6:9-10 NIV
“This, then, is how you should pray: “‘Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name, your kingdom come, your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. ‘Pray like this: Our Father in heaven, may your name be kept holy. May your Kingdom come soon. May your will be done on earth, as it is in heaven.

What is His Kingdom?
What did He mean?

The answer is actually on the first page of the Bible!

Genesis 1:1-2
1In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. 2Now the earth was formless and empty, darkness was over the surface of the deep, and the Spirit of God was hovering over the waters. https://my.bible.com/bible/116/GEN.1.1-2

God asserts his authority over the chaotic darkness to create life that will flourish.

Genesis 1:26
Then God said, “Let us make mankind in our image, in our likeness, so that they may rule over the fish in the sea and the birds in the sky, over the livestock and all the wild animals, and over all the creatures that move along the ground.” https://my.bible.com/bible/116/GEN.1.1-2,26

And then He plants His image, He appoints the human species to do exactly the same thing on God’s behalf.

Psalm 33:4-9 NIV
“For the word of the Lord is right and true; he is faithful in all he does. The Lord loves righteousness and justice; the earth is full of his unfailing love. By the word of the Lord the heavens were made, their starry host by the breath of his mouth. He gathers the waters of the sea into jars; he puts the deep into storehouses. Let all the earth fear the Lord; let all the people of the world revere him. For he spoke, and it came to be; he commanded, and it stood firm.” https://my.bible.com/bible/116/PSA.33.4-9

Exodus 5:1-2
1Afterward Moses and Aaron went to Pharaoh and said, “This is what the Lord, the God of Israel, says: ‘Let my people go, so that they may hold a festival to me in the wilderness.’ ”
2Pharaoh said, “Who is the Lord, that I should obey him and let Israel go? I do not know the Lord and I will not let Israel go.” https://my.bible.com/bible/116/EXO.5.1-2

We go from the garden, where a rebellious humanity ends up in Babylon and now we end up in Egypt the first major corrupt super power, and it is all rooted in a ruler who won’t acknowledge that the creator God is his authority.

So this human authority has completely forgotten that he is an image.
He thinks he’s the reality.

Exodus 15:18 (the last line of the poem)
“The LORD reigns forever and ever.” https://my.bible.com/bible/116/EXO.15.18

The Biblical narrative is essentially about God, creating a world, where He wants to rule through human beings, but human beings have declared independence and they redefine right and wrong in their personal interests or tribal interests.

So now the question is quite literally, “What on earth is God going to do?”
