We Need A Shepherd

The Lord’s Prayer

And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from the evil one. —Matthew 6:13

1) We need a shepherd who gives us

When tempted, no one should say, “God is tempting me.” For God cannot be tempted by evil, nor does he tempt anyone —James 1:13

In all this you greatly rejoice, though now for a little while you may have had to suffer grief in all kinds of trials. These have come so that the proven genuineness of your faith of greater worth than gold, which perishes even though refined by fire may result in praise, glory and honor when Jesus Christ is revealed. —1 Peter 1:6-7

2) We need a shepherd who gives us

For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms. —Ephesians 6:12

The great dragon was hurled down that ancient serpent called the devil, or Satan, who leads the whole world astray. He was hurled to the earth, and his angels with him. Then I heard a loud voice in heaven say: “Now have come the salvation and the power and the kingdom of our God, and the authority of his Messiah. For the accuser of our brothers and sisters, who accuses them before our God day and night, has been hurled down. They triumphed over him by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony;they did not love their lives so much as to shrink from death. —Revelation 12:9-11
