Set Free: From Addiction - Message Study Questions

The Set Free series is about being set so that you can walk in the freedom Jesus gives. This week Pastor John spoke on being set free from addiction. Addicts don’t all look the same or have the same addictions. Smoking, alcohol, weed, meth, pills, compulsive shopping, gambling, exercising, eating, porn, compulsive use of social media, and the list goes on. Nobody ever says “when I grow up I want to be an addict,” it happens one decision at a time until one day one realizes, often in a painful way, that their drug, activity, desire controls them.

Here is the technical definition of an addiction:

Addiction: “the fact or condition of being addicted to a particular substance, thing, or activity” “a strong inclination to do, use, or indulge in something repeatedly”

Addiction comes with a cost.
Physical and emotional cravings, spiritual emptiness, broken bodies, destroyed relationships, ruined careers, dulled brain, deep feelings of remorse guilt shame. There is always a price to pay for an addiction.
