Raising Champions Week 1
October 9, 2022

“Therefore, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us also lay aside every weight, and sin which clings so closely, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us…” Hebrews 12:1

3 Rules for raising Champions
1) Because I said so, no you can’t ask questions. I love you. (Obey first time, then.)
2) Because I said so, yes you can ask questions. I love you (Obey first time, then.)
3) Heres the reason I said so, yes you can ask questions. I love you. (Let’s talk)

Train for what?
“Train up a child in the way he should go; even when he is old he will not depart from it.” Proverbs 22:6
“4 “Hear, O Israel: The LORD our God, the LORD is one. 5 You shall love the LORD your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your might. 6 And these words that I command you today shall be on your

. 7 You shall teach them diligently to your children, and shall talk of them when you sit in your house, and when you walk by the way, and when you lie down, and when you rise. 8 You shall bind them as a sign on your hand, and they shall be as frontlets between your eyes. 9 You shall write them on the doorposts of your house and on your gates.” Deuteronomy 6:4–9
If you don’t train them, the world will.

Is the Golden rule golden? Is it enough?
“16 And behold, a man came up to him, saying, “Teacher, what good deed must I do to have eternal life?” 17 And he said to him, “Why do you ask me about what is good? There is only one who is good. If you would enter life, keep the commandments.” 18 He said to him, “Which ones?” And Jesus said, “You shall not murder, You shall not commit adultery, You shall not steal, You shall not bear false witness, 19 Honor your father and mother, and, You shall love your neighbor as yourself.” 20 The young man said to him, “All these I have kept. What do I still lack?” 21 Jesus said to him, “If you would be perfect, go, sell what you possess and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven; and come, follow me.” 22 When the young man heard this he went away sorrowful, for he had great possessions.” Matthew 19:16–22
It’s not nice to lie to Jesus. He knows it and then He tells you the truth.

They have to see you doing this.
“37 And he said to him, “You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind. 38 This is the great and first commandment. 39 And a second is like it: You shall love your neighbor as yourself. 40 On these two commandments depend all the Law and the Prophets.”” Matthew 22:37–40
They have to know you love Him more than them. And that you love them more than anybody else.

Is God open-minded? Are you?
“8 And a highway shall be there, and it shall be called

Way of Holiness; the unclean shall not pass over it. It shall belong to those who walk on _ way; even if they are fools, they shall not go astray. 9 No lion shall be there, nor shall any ravenous beast come up on it; they shall not be found there, but the redeemed shall walk . 10 And the ransomed of the LORD shall return and come to Zion with singing; everlasting joy shall be upon their heads; they shall obtain gladness and joy, and sorrow and sighing shall flee away.” Isaiah 35:8–10
“37 Then Pilate said to him, “So you are a king?” Jesus answered, “You say that I am a king. For this purpose I was born and for this purpose I have come into the world—to bear witness to the truth. Everyone who is of the truth listens to my voice.” 38 Pilate said to him, “What is truth?”” John 18:37–38
God says only His truth is like a highway. Jesus said his purpose to bear witness to the truth. Are you of the truth?
