PRAY. the most important conversation
Why Prayer is Important
LUKE 11 (NIV)
1 One day Jesus was praying in a certain place. When he finished, one of his disciples said to him, “Lord, teach us to pray, just as John taught his disciples.” 2 He said to them, “When you pray, say: ” ‘Father, hallowed be your name, your kingdom come. 3 Give us each day our daily bread. 4 Forgive us our sins, for we also forgive everyone who sins against us. And lead us not into temptation.’ “
Myth 1: There’s a certain physical position / set of words / time of day / length of time - that we need to be in to pray
Myth 2: God only hears the prayers of the righteous or holy
Myth 3: The more people that pray the better
Myth 4: The goal of a prayer is to have it answered
PRAYER should move the focus from you towards something bigger and better.
PRAYERS needs to be
- REGULAR and HABITUAL
- PASSIONATE and HEARTFELT
- PRIVATE and CORPORATE
- combined with FASTING and LISTENING
