John 5:19
So Jesus said to them, “Truly, truly, I say to you, the Son can do nothing of his own accord, but only what he sees the Father doing. For whatever the Father does, that the Son does likewise. 20 For the Father loves the Son and shows him all that he himself is doing. And greater works than these will he show him, so that you may marvel.
“Many people have grown up attending church and hearing about God all their lives, but they do not have a personal, dynamic, growing relationship with God.” —-Henry Blackaby, Experiencing God
Experiencing God Means:
1. Recognizing God’s work in and around you.
2. Hearing and responding to God’s invitation to join his work.
3. Adjusting beliefs, character, and behavior to align with God and his ways.
Experiencing God is Not:
• Guaranteed by salvation.
• Church involvement.
• Knowledge of God.
• A rare spiritual experience.
Experiencing God is:
• Made possible by salvation.
• Activated by engagement with your church family.
• Fostered by growing Biblical knowledge.
• A daily, dynamic, personal, “abiding” relationship with God.
Big Idea: God Invites Us to Join His Work
• God is always at working around us
• God is always working in us
• We need to join God’s work, not ask him to empower ours
