God has revealed Himself to us through Jesus who is the one true God.

God has made Himself known to us when He did not have to do so.

The God revealed to us in 1 John is:
Light

Truth

Love

2) …through Jesus…

John knows no other God apart from Jesus.

Jesus is the God of 1 John. To know Jesus means to know this God.

3) …who is the one true God.

We have to be aware of god-substitutes (aka “idols”).

An idol is anything you love, enjoy, and pursue more than Jesus.

Idols always over-promise and under-deliver.

Do not be fooled: Jesus is the one true God.
