Everyday Jesus: Everyday Jesus is a great way to deepen your Bible reading, prayer life & personal time with Christ.
• Monday: Read Ex 32-34:16 This powerful portion of Scripture shows the depths of the wayward heart of mankind & God’s merciful heart toward us. Today in prayer, thank God for simply who/how He is, …a God merciful & gracious, slow to anger, and abounding in steadfast love and faithfulness…
• Tuesday: Read Ex 33:1-23; 34:1-9 Moses is frustrated because the Lord hasn’t done what Moses thinks He should. God’s promise of His presence, is quite different from Moses request. Meditate on Josh 1:5, Isa 63:9 & Ex 33:14, in what frustrates you, ask the Lord to be present with you…
• Wednesday: [Day of Fasting] Read Ex 34:1-9, 2 Sam 24:10-15 In frustration, Moses broke the 2 tablets the Lord had spoken & given Him. In His mercy, rather than punish, He gives 2 new tablets. Similarly, in 2 Sam 24:10-15 David was given 3 options to atone for His sin… David’s response was to fall into the hands of God rather than people (LOL). Today, think of the cold heart of people & thank God for His mercy toward you & His gracious response to your shortcomings.
• Thursday: Read Ex 34:1-9 In response to Moses request to see God’s glory, the Lord descended and proclaimed His name, The Lord, the Lord, a God merciful and gracious, slow to anger, and abounding in steadfast love and faithfulness, keeping steadfast love for thousands, forgiving iniquity and transgression and sin, but who will by no means clear the guilty, visiting the iniquity of the fathers on the children and the children’s children, to the third and fourth generation. These verses reflect God’s heart toward the frustrated soul. Read this verse several times & let it lead you into prayer to know God’s heart as He strengths you in your frustrations.
• Friday: Read Ex 34:1-9 The heart of God is merciful and gracious, which causes Him to be slow to anger, overflow in mercy and love His people, but He doesn’t ignore sin. Deeper understanding of the fact of God’s heart invites us to repent, And Moses quickly bowed His head toward the earth and worshiped…
• Saturday: Exodus 33: 12-16 & 34: 9 Coming to better understanding of God’s heart overcomes our frustration and brings us into humble alignment with God’s pre-existing desire. Compare Moses frustration in 33:12-16 with where He is in 34:9. Ask the Lord to move you from the frustration of your expectations to the humility of God’s will.
