Extreme Makeover – God Addition - Part 2
“Precision Conformation to the Image of Jesus”
Introduction: Long before the TV reality show “Extreme Makeover” came on the scene, God gave mankind the ability to be transformed into something never before accomplished. In fact, the whole program would be built around one thing: conforming to the image of His Son.
It has never before been done. Imagine an infallible God allowing a very fallible creation the ability to become just like Him. What a feat! What a responsibility though. And all we’d have to do is agree to “let go and let God.”
Scripture: Romans 8:28-29; John 17:1-25
I. Taking on His Image (Romans 8:28-29)
a. What’s that look like for me? (II Corinthians 4:4;
Colossians 1:15; Hebrews 1:4; John 1:18).
b. Having the DNA of God inside of you (II Peter 1:4).
c. The goal of being adopted by God is

His image.
II. “What have we gotten ourselves into? (John 17:1-25
a. Jesus asked His Father to glorify (exalt and venerate) him,
so that he could in turn do the same with us.
b. God determined to create a class of people that would
become partakers of His divine nature… a special class of people known as.
III. A Radical Departure of How We See our Lives
a. We are hiding in Christ, and Jesus is in the Father… but
then Jesus doubles back on us and says,.

c. So, the life we now live is a life lived IN us by someone else (Christ in us…) Galatians 2:20
*God’s goal for His saints is that we be conformed to the life and character of Jesus Christ, through God’s values and God’s conduct (expressed in our human form).
