REvision, pt 3 - “Displaying a Relationship with Jesus”

Week 1—Discover
Week 2—Develop
Today—Display

Our vision is for everyone who attends Crosstown to become a partner in the Gospel.

We want you to display Christ’s love to the community by participating in serving and outreach.

Luke 22:24-27
A dispute also arose among them, as to which of them was to be regarded as the greatest. 25 And he said to them, “The kings of the Gentiles exercise lordship over them, and those in authority over them are called benefactors. 26 But not so with you. Rather, let the greatest among you become as the youngest, and the leader as one who serves. 27 For who is the greater, one who reclines at table or one who serves? Is it not the one who reclines at table? But I am among you as the one who serves.

The greatest at the table was the one serving the table—we should follow his example!
Saved People Serve People! (people are not here to serve us, we are here to serve people)
Serving is Greatness / Greatness is Service

KEY QUESTIONS:

Do you humbly allow others to serve you?
Did Jesus allow other people to serve him?
Do you serve others with pure motives?
WHO do you have in mind while you are serving?
Are you willing to do the menial tasks of a servant?
Is your life marked more by giving or getting?
Is your motive behind serving to be applauded or to make a difference?
Are you an active partner in the Gospel?

Philippians 1:3-5
I thank my God in all my remembrance of you, 4 always in every prayer of mine for you all making my prayer with joy, 5 because of your partnership in the gospel from the first day until now.

Luke 22:28-32
“You are those who have stayed with me in my trials, 29 and I assign to you, as my Father assigned to me, a kingdom, 30 that you may eat and drink at my table in my kingdom and sit on thrones judging the twelve tribes of Israel. 31 “Simon, Simon, behold, Satan demanded to have you, that he might sift you like wheat, 32 but I have prayed for you that your faith may not fail. And when you have turned again, strengthen your brothers.”

The goal in this life is not to sit on a throne, it’s to get out of our seat and serve.
