TEXT: Matthew 27:27-37; 45-54 (ESV)

“TRULY this man was the Son of God!”

He was Compelled by

SO - if every word that proceeds from the mouth of God is true, then…

1. He IS the Way the Truth and the Life - no man can come to the Father except through Him.
2. He came that we may have Life and have it more abundantly.
3. He will build His church and the gates of hell will not prevail against it!
4. He IS who He says He is and all of creation testifies to it…

“Truly THIS MAN WAS the Son of God!”

He was Compelled by

From the cross, Jesus reveals His purpose / legacy —

1. He came to demonstrate God’s
   Reveal Answer
   for mankind.
2. He came to offer
   Reveal Answer
   precisely to those who didn’t deserve it and couldn’t earn it.

“Truly this man was THE SON OF GOD!”

Compelled by

Both the Roman centurion and some of the disciples were there at the cross! They saw the same thing but not at all in the same way…

• One wanted liberation from Roman oppression.
One wanted liberation from sinful oppression.

• One saw Jesus through the lens of their wants.
One saw Jesus through the lens of his needs.

• One saw a King.
One saw THE King.

• One began to doubt.
One began to believe.
