Everyday Jesus Notes 1.15.23
January 15, 2023

Everyday Jesus: Everyday Jesus is a great way to deepen your Bible reading, prayer life & personal time with Christ.

Monday: Read Gen 1:26,5:1, 9:6; 1 Cor 11:7; Eph 4:24; Col 3:10; James 3:9 Repeatedly the Bible speaks of man being born or having the image of God. As you read each of these passages today, it becomes evident that SIN first distorted than blinded us of what it means to be created in the image of God. As you read, pray for deeper understanding of what it means that you are created in the image of God. Asking God that deeper understanding will lead to deeper relationship with Christ and therefore needed changes in your life.
Tuesday: Read Genesis 3, Romans 3:21-26; 5:12-21. Sin has fractured the soul of all of mankind. Each of these 3 passages outline our need for a Savior. Genesis 3:21 points to the coming of Christ in that sin exposed their shame and a sacrificial sacrifice clothed/covered them. Rom 3, we’ve all sinned & fallen short. Rom 5 Adam’s sin brought death, Christ’s life brings life.
Wednesday: [Day of Fasting] Read Psalms 32 and 51. In Ps 32 David contrasts the blessing of having our sins covered with the pain of not confessing our sins. David restates this understanding in Psalms 51 while speaking of his guiltless position before God [v4]. Read these 2 amazing passages while praying God will continually develop an ever deepening, lifestyle of humble confession of sin to God, in you.
Thursday: Read 1 Cor 8, Romans 14. Sin is more relative than we often think. Romans 14 lays out 3 positions regarding sin: (1) Fully Convinced, v5-12; (2) Thinks it Wrong, vv13-19[14]; (3) Doubt vv20-23. The last sentence of Rom 14, “For whatever does not proceed from faith is sin”, really clarifies that our relationship with Christ really drives our behavior before the Lord. Today, pray for understanding of what areas of your life are sinful because they aren’t cemented by faith in Christ. You may know them by how you instinctively act - ie, nervous, anger, hesitant…
Friday: Read I Peter 2:20-25, In v24, Christ bore the sins of the world. The contrast of this passage is the sinless of Christ with the sin of people. Christ alone bears the sins of the world, it’s His great atoning work that heals us! Praise the Lord today, for healing that has, does and always does come from the atoning, sacrificial work of Christ.
Saturday: Luke 7:36-49 Sin fractured the soul of humanity. Confession of sin, empowers us to live life without guilt. Therefore, like the woman in Luke 7, we point all of our love and life towards Christ, “your faith waives you, go in peace. As you read praise the Lord for the peace He alone gives.
