DECEMBER 5, 2021: MIRACLES ARE MESSY WEEK 42
December 5, 2021

THE MIRACLE OF CHRISTMAS

6  For unto us a Child is born, unto us a Son is given; and the government will be upon His shoulder. And His name will be called Wonderful, Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.
7  Of the increase of His government and peace there will be no end, upon the throne of David and over His kingdom, To order it and establish it with judgment and justice from that time forward, even forever. The zeal of the Lord of hosts will perform this. —Isaiah 9:6 - 7

1. The miracle of the gift and the messiness of the cost.

For unto us a Child is born, unto us a Son is given; —Isaiah 9:6a

And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we beheld His glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,  full of grace and truth. —John 1:14

8  Beware lest anyone cheat you through philosophy and empty deceit, according to the tradition of men, according to the basic principles of the world, and not according to Christ.
9  For in Him dwells all the fullness of the Godhead bodily;
10  and you are complete in Him, who is the head of all principality and power. —Colossians 2:8 - 10

16  For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.
17  For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved. —John 3:16 - 17

2. The miracle of Christ ruling in our hearts.

For unto us a Child is born, unto us a Son is given; and the government will be upon His shoulder. —Isaiah 9:6a-b

“Behold, the virgin shall be with child,
and bear a Son, and they shall call His name
Immanuel,” which is translated, “God with us.” —Matthew 1:23

And let the peace of God rule in your hearts,  to which also you were called in one body; and be thankful. —Colossians 3:15

These things I have spoken to you, that in Me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation; but be of good cheer, I have overcome the world. —John 16:33

3. The miracle of “wonderful.”

For unto us a Child is born, unto us a  Son is given; and the government will be upon His shoulder. And His name will be called Wonderful, —Isaiah 9:6a-c

Wonderful Biblically defined: “MIRACLE”

30  Then the angel said to her, “Do not be afraid, Mary, for you have found favor with God.
31  And behold, you will conceive in your womb and bring forth a Son, and shall call His name Jesus.
32  He will be great, and will be called the Son of the Highest; and the Lord God will give Him the throne of His father David.
33 And He will reign over the house of Jacob forever, and of His kingdom there will be no end.”
34  Then Mary said to the angel, “How can this be, since I do not know a man?”
35  And the angel answered and said to her, “The Holy Spirit will come upon you, and the power of the Highest will overshadow you; therefore, also, that Holy One who is to be born will be called the Son of God. —Luke 1:30 - 35

1  There was a man of the Pharisees named Nicodemus, a ruler of the Jews.
2  This man came to Jesus by night and said to Him, “Rabbi, we know that You are a teacher come from God; for no one can do these signs that You do unless God is with him.”
3  Jesus answered and said to him, “Most assuredly, I say to you, unless one is born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.”
4  Nicodemus said to Him, “How can a man be born when he is old? Can he enter a second time into his mother’s womb and be born?”
5  Jesus answered, “Most assuredly, I say to you, unless one is born of water and the Spirit, he cannot enter the kingdom of God.
6  That which is born of the flesh is flesh, and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit. —John 3:1 - 6

4. The miracle that Christmas brought is the truth that nothing is impossible with God because of His love.

35  And the angel answered and said to her, “The Holy Spirit will come upon you, and the power of the Highest will overshadow you; therefore, also, that Holy One who is to be born will be called the Son of God.
36  Now indeed, Elizabeth your relative has also conceived a son in her old age; and this is now the sixth month for her who was called barren.
37  For with God nothing will be impossible.”
38  Then Mary said, “Behold the maidservant of the Lord! Let it be to me according to your word.” And the angel departed from her. —Luke 1:35 - 38

38  For I am persuaded that neither death nor life, nor angels nor principalities nor powers, nor things present nor things to come,
39  nor height nor depth, nor any other created thing, shall be able to separate us from the love of God which is in Christ Jesus our Lord. —Romans 8:38 - 39
