You can’t have a positive life with a negative mind.

Major factors of our mental health are both biological and environmental.

Dr. Gary Nichols is going to help us answer some of the questions submitted by our church during the mental health survey at the beginning of this series. Feel free to take notes as he talks with us about each of the following questions:

1. Is it true that you are either mentally healthy or mentally ill?

2. Why do you think our culture has gotten to the point where there’s such a stigma or taboo around the topic of mental health?

3. How do you find a counselor who is a good fit without having to tell your story over and over?

4. How should a spouse or parent help their family when they are struggling?

5. When I pray for this past trauma to go away and God hasn’t taken it away, what do I do?

6. Poor mental health, unless due to medical imbalances, drug induced or accidental injury, seem to be all self centered anxiety. How is this statement true or untrue?

Is there something you wished you could tell everyone about mental health?

Is there one last piece of advice or something you’ve found helpful to share as we wrap up our time together?

I can’t control what

to me, but I can control how I it.

State of mind: Your mood or mental state at a particular time.
Frame of mind: Your mood or mental state at a particular time which causes you to have a particular attitude to something.

No matter your level of faith in God, we have this in common —
We don’t really know what we believe until our faith, our health, or our mental health has been tested.

23Are they servants of Christ? (I am out of my mind to talk like this.) I am more. I have worked much harder, been in prison more frequently, been flogged more severely, and been exposed to death again and again. 24Five times I received from the Jews the forty lashes minus one. 25Three times I was beaten with rods, once I was pelted with stones, three times I was shipwrecked, I spent a night and a day in the open sea, 26I have been constantly on the move. We will always be tempted to examine our pain, suffering and loss within the context of our life alone.

4Rejoice in the Lord always. I will say it again: Rejoice! 5Let your gentleness be evident to all.
