LORD MY SANCTIFICATION

Exodus 31:12-14
12 And the Lord said to Moses, 13 “You are to speak to the people of Israel and say, ‘Above all you shall keep my Sabbaths, for this is a sign between me and you throughout your generations, that you may know that I, the Lord, sanctify you. 14 You shall keep the Sabbath, because it is holy for you. Everyone who profanes it shall be put to death. Whoever does any work on it, that soul shall be cut off from among his people.

- implies setting apart, consecrate, dedicate, be holy

  1. We discover sanctification requires an act of God AND an by the person.
    • As always, the in the Old Testament corresponds with a New Testament truth.
      I Thessalonians 5:16-24
Rejoice always, 17 pray without ceasing, 18 give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you. 19 Do not quench the Spirit. Do not despise prophecies, 21 but test everything; hold fast what is good. Abstain from every form of evil. 23 Now may the God of peace himself sanctify you completely, and may your whole spirit and soul and body be kept blameless at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ. 24 He who calls you is faithful; he will surely do it.

  2. We discover sanctification requires a faith action by the person AND a of God.
