The promise of a Son and a King…

The LORD declares to you that the LORD Himself will establish a house for you: When your days are over and you rest with your fathers, I will raise up your offspring to succeed you, who will come from your own body, and I will establish his kingdom. He is the one who will build a house for My Name, and I will establish the throne of his kingdom forever. (2 Samuel 7:11b-13)

He will reign on David’s throne and over his kingdom, establishing and upholding it with justice and righteousness from that time on and forever. (Isaiah 9:7b)

The mission of the Servant King is to bring

and

The Spirit of the Sovereign LORD is on me, because the LORD has anointed me to preach good news to the poor. He has sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim freedom for the captives and release from darkness for the prisoners, to proclaim the year of the LORD’s favor and the day of vengeance of our God… (Isaiah 61:1-2a)

Then He rolled up the scroll, gave it back to the attendant and sat down… “Today this scripture is fulfilled in your hearing.” (Luke 4:20a, 21b)

Freedom…

From the

of sin ( ) – “Therefore, since we have been justified through faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom we have gained access by faith into this grace in which we now stand.” (Romans 5:1-2a)

From the of sin ( ) – “You have been set free from sin and have become slaves to righteousness.” (Romans 6:18)

Now the Lord is the Spirit, and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom. And we, who with unveiled faces all reflect the Lord’s glory, are being transformed into His likeness with ever-increasing glory, which comes from the Lord, who is the Spirit. (2 Corinthians 3:17-18)

From the of sin ( ) – “Your eyes will see the King in His beauty and view a land that stretches afar. In your thoughts you will ponder the former terror: ‘Where is your chief officer? Where is the one who took the revenue? Where is the officer in charge of the towers? You will see those arrogant people no more…’” (Isaiah 33:17-19a)

You, my brothers, were called to be free. But do not use your freedom to indulge the sinful nature; rather, serve one another in love. (Galatians 5:13)
