Close to Jesus: CAN YOU TRUST HIM?

TWO PRAYERS TO BUILD YOUR TRUST

4 When he had finished speaking, he said to Simon, “Put out into deep water, and let down the nets for a catch.” 5 Simon answered, “Master, we’ve worked hard all night and haven’t caught anything…” Luke 5:4-5

• “Lord, help me to obey you even when I don’t understand.”

5 Simon answered, “Master, we’ve worked hard all night and haven’t caught anything. But because you say so, I will let down the nets.” Luke 5:5

You don’t have to understand completely to obey immediately.

5 Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; 6 in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight. Prov 3:5-6

Batakh—Cling to!

6 When they had done so, they caught such a large number of fish that their nets began to break. 7 So they signaled their partners in the other boat to come and help them, and they came and filled both boats so full that they began to sink. Luke 5:6-7

• Lord help me surrender what I cannot control.

Then Jesus said to Simon, “Don’t be afraid; from now on you will fish for people.” 11 So they pulled their boats up on shore, left everything and followed him. Luke 5:10b-11

Some trust in chariots and some in horses, but we trust in the name of the LORD our God. Psalm 20:7
