Nehemiah Recap:
1. Received bad report about Jerusalem from his brother
2. Mourned, fasted, and prayed for four months
3. Requested and received aid from the King of Persia
Two ways God Can bring us together around his good work:
1. When we acknowledge reality (2:11-17a)
• Nehemiah (the leader) helps the people see
• Nehemiah includes himself in the problem
2. When we follow a compelling (God-given) vision
• Nehemiah invites the people to work WITH him
• Nehemiah points to what God has already done
The people responded with action! They didn’t:
• Remain content in their circumstances
• Reject the vision because of past failures
Where Nehemiah’s victory was temporary, Jesus’ victory is eternal:
• Jesus helps us see the reality that we are sinful and in need of him
• Jesus calls us to a great vision - LIFE with him!
