Prayer of Agreement | SMALL GROUP STUDY

Series Key Text:
13 Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand. 14 Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness; 15 And your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace; 16 Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked. 17 And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God:

18 Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints

Lesson Key Text: Matt. 18:15-20 NKJV
15 “If your brother or sister sins, go and point out their fault, just between the two of you. If they listen to you, you have won them over. 16 But if they will not listen, take one or two others along, so that ‘every matter may be established by the testimony of two or three witnesses.’ 17 If they still refuse to listen, tell it to the church; and if they refuse to listen even to the church, treat them as you would a pagan or a tax collector.

18 “Truly I tell you, whatever you bind on earth will be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth will be loosed in heaven.

19 “Again, truly I tell you that if two of you on earth agree about anything they ask for, it will be done for them by my Father in heaven. 20 For where two or three gather in my name, there am I with them.”

OBJECTIVE: Every believer must learn the discipline of prayer; however,we are told by paul to pray with all manners of prayer. This lesson teaches one how to pray the Prayer of Agreement.

Discussion Questions:

1 What does Matthew 18:15-17 teach us concerning AGREEMENT?

2 What do you believe is the greatest hurdle to believers having agreement today? What solution does the Bible give to fixing that?

3 In the Prayer of Agreement, why do you think it is so imporant for the TWO to verbably ask together rather than just one person?

4 Do you struggle to pray corporately with others? If so, have you ever thought of the effects it may have on the power of agreement in the room?

5 Discuss creative ways that you can intenionally stay engaged in corprate prayer and keeping agreement while doing so. (for example: I will not sit and thinkwhilesomeone is praying, but I will pray along with them while they pray to avoid distraction and idleness)
