Blessed are those who Mourn

Matthew 5:4

“Mourn” - to lament, grieve, feel deep sorrow

What the Bible says about Mourning (Psalm 34:18, Psalm 51:17, Jeremiah 13:17, Isaiah 53:3, 2 Cor. 12:21, Romans 7:24, Romans 8:22-23, Rev. 21:4)

What Prevents Us:
- A Culture of Distraction
- A Culture of Self-Esteem

Godly Sorrow VS Worldly Sorrow (2 Cor. 7:10-11)

Worldly Sorrow:
- Sorry about the result
- Sorry for how it affects me
- No personal ownership

Godly Sorrow:
- Very strong reaction
- Sorry for the sin itself
- A heart of grateful repentance

It’s Christ Who Comforts Us (Rom. 7:25, Rev. 19:9)
