Introduction
Five Signs I’m Out Of Alignment:
- Abnormally Tire Wear: Spiritually
- Car Drifts: Spiritually
- Steering Wheel Does Not Return Properly: Spiritually
- Steering Wheel Is Crooked or Vibrates: Spiritually
- Squealing Noise From Tires: Spiritually
7 So disputes broke out between the herdsmen of Abram and Lot.
8 Finally Abram said to Lot, “Let’s not allow this conflict to come between us or our herdsmen. After all, we are close relatives! 9 The whole countryside is open to you. Take your choice of any section of the land you want, and we will separate. If you want the land to the left, then I’ll take the land on the right. If you prefer the land on the right, then I’ll go to the left.”
10 Lot took a long look at the fertile plains of the Jordan Valley in the direction of Zoar. The whole area was well watered everywhere, like the garden of the Lord or the beautiful land of Egypt. 11 Lot chose for himself the whole Jordan Valley to the east of them. He went there with his flocks and servants and parted company with his uncle Abram. 12 So Abram settled in the land of Canaan, and Lot moved his tents to a place near Sodom and settled among the cities of the plain. 13 But the people of this area were extremely wicked and constantly sinned against the Lord. —Genesis 13:7-13 (NLT)
Three Aspects of the Choices of Lot
1. Lot’s Choice Involved
7 For we live by believing and not by seeing. —2 Corinthians 5:7 (NLT)
2. Lot’s Choice Invited
12 They also captured Lot—Abram’s nephew who lived in Sodom—and carried off everything he owned. —Genesis 14:12 (NLT)
1 Now the two angels came to Sodom in the evening, and Lot was sitting in the gate of Sodom. —Genesis 19:1 (NKJV)
6 Later, God condemned the cities of Sodom and Gomorrah and turned them into heaps of ashes. He made them an example of what will happen to ungodly people. 7 But God also rescued Lot out of Sodom because he was a righteous man who was sick of the shameful immorality of the wicked people around him. 8 Yes, Lot was a righteous man who was tormented in his soul by the wickedness he saw and heard day after day. —2 Peter 2:6-8 (NLT)
3. Lot’s Choice Issued
14 The temptation to give in to evil comes from us and only us. We have no one to blame but the leering, seducing flare-up of our own lust. 15 Lust gets pregnant, and has a baby: sin! Sin grows up to adulthood, and becomes a real killer. —James 1:14-15 (MSG)
Conclusion
5 If you need wisdom, ask our generous God, and he will give it to you. He will not rebuke you for asking. 6 But when you ask him, be sure that your faith is in God alone. Do not waver, for a person with divided loyalty is as unsettled as a wave of the sea that is blown and tossed by the wind. 7 Such people should not expect to receive anything from the Lord. 8 Their loyalty is divided between God and the world, and they are unstable in everything they do. —James 1:5-8 (NLT)
