1 John 2:3-6

1. Knowing Christ is Not Simply

, Philosophical, or . It is ! (Vs. 3-4; Titus 1:16; Gen 5:24, 6:9; Micah 6:8; John 15:1-5)
Titus 1:16, “They claim to know God, but they deny him by their works.”
Genesis 5:24, “Enoch walked with God; then he was not there because God took him.”
Genesis 6:9, “Noah was a righteous man, blameless among his contemporaries; Noah walked with God.”
Micah 6:8, “Mankind, he has told each of you what is good and what it is the Lord requires of you: to act justly, to love faithfulness, and to walk humbly with your God.”
John 15:1-5, ““I am the true vine, and my Father is the gardener. Every branch in me that does not produce fruit he removes, and he prunes every branch that produces fruit so that it will produce more fruit. You are already clean because of the word I have spoken to you. Remain in me, and I in you. Just as a branch is unable to produce fruit by itself unless it remains on the vine, neither can you unless you remain in me. I am the vine; you are the branches. The one who remains in me and I in him produces much fruit, because you can do nothing without me.”

2. Walking in Christ

You . (Vs. 5-6, John 14:23-24, Prov 7:1-2, Col 2:6-7, Rom 12:2)

Proverbs 7:1-2, “My son, obey my words, and treasure my commands. Keep my commands and live, and guard my instructions as you would the pupil of your eye.”
Colossians 2:6-7, “So then, just as you have received Christ Jesus as Lord, continue to walk in him, being rooted and built up in him and established in the faith, just as you were taught, and overflowing with gratitude.”
Romans 12:2, “Do not be conformed to this age, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, so that you may discern what is the good, pleasing, and perfect will of God.”
