Week Two: Bitterness and Un-forgiveness

INTRODUCTION

In week two of The Insanity Zone, we are talking about bitterness and un-forgiveness. This week our speaker, Art VanZanten, talks about his own journey of coming clean before God about the disappointment and heartbreak that he had experienced in his life. We all need direction out of the mess, hurt, and confusion of life and the only way to do that is to invite God into all of it. When you invite God into the mess, you will find a safe place to be real and to receive the healing power of His love.

DISCUSSION QUESTIONS

  1. Have you experienced a season or time of your life that was mired in disappoint or unmet expectations? How did you handle it? What did you learn from it?
  2. The story of Jonah is a great picture of how resentment can push us to rebel against God. When was the last time you ran away from God? What happened?
  3. What part of this message could you relate to? What is God asking you to do?

MOVING FORWARD

Life is hard. Life is confusing. Relationships are hard. Church can even be hard. God does not shy away from the hard truths of life, in fact, He gets right into the heart of it with you. Jesus faced rejection, betrayal, and ultimately death. He knows how it feels. He will walk with you in the darkness and all the way to the new life beyond it. Don’t give up. Invite Jesus into every part of your life today.

CHANGING YOUR MIND

Hebrews 4:14-16 Message Version

Now that we know what we have—Jesus, this great High Priest with ready access to God—let’s not let it slip through our fingers. We don’t have a priest who is out of touch with our reality. He’s been through weakness and testing, experienced it all—all but the sin. So let’s walk right up to him and get what he is so ready to give. Take the mercy, accept the help. https://www.bible.com/bible/97/HEB.4.14-16.MSG
