Introduction:

God wants you to thrive. But many of us are just trying to survive. Maybe you feel the same way. However, God wants you to be revived and thriving. You do this by looking for opportunities to improve and maximize your life in the areas of health and wellness. Do you need a reset, a fresh start in the areas of physical, spiritual, and emotional health?

“Dear friend, I pray that you are prospering in every way and are in good health, just as your whole life is going well.” —3 John 2

You may not feel like you are thriving right now because you have not been taking care of yourself. This season of life may have you feeling defeated, lost, and not knowing where to start in moving from surviving to thriving.

In this seven-week collection of talks, you are going to explore six A.C.T.I.O.N. steps toward thriving again in your health and wellness.

Today’s Takeaway: Your Health Matters to God.

THRIVE WEEK #1: Taking Action in Your Health

Problem: Obesity is a problem in America.

“Approximately 70% of Americans are either overweight or have obesity.” — Dr. Donald Hensrud, director of the Mayo Clinic Healthy Living Program. (2021)

“During COVID-19, we’ve taken previous challenges to managing weight to another level. During the pandemic, fitness centers have been shut down, our activity may be decreasing, or we may be working from home and not moving as much,” says Dr. Hensrud. “In addition, our diet has changed. We may be eating more comfort food or eating what happens to be around the house rather than getting something that is healthier.” — Dr. Donald Hensrud

Problem: Obesity is a problem in the church.

Christians are the most overweight religious group in America.

“A 2006 Purdue study found that the fundamental Christians are by far the heaviest of all religious groups led by the Baptists with a 30% obesity rate compared with Jews at 1%, Buddhists and Hindus at 0.7%.” —Ken Ferraro

Solution: The solution is to look at maintaining our physical health as a form of worship.

You need to

healthy eating habits and more exercise into your daily life.

VI. H LIVING HAS REWARDS
